try a bicycle chain. Just throw the chain over the piece you’re cutting and let it wrap over the anvil….then stick your foot into the loop and push down. That works pretty well and will conform to all different shapes…like a chain vise.
@menOFnoShame Ummm….on the work bench….that IS where they belong right? LOL. (My mother would kick my ass if she ever saw any of these.) You’d think that after having my eyes drilled into to get shit out of ‘em I’d learn my lesson….you’d think. (I think it’s all the daily safety crap I dealt with for 10 years working in industrial construction that made me LOATH the whole safety and PPE stuff…..But it IS very important)
@Lamepro1 Home distiller is right. It is a hardee hold-down. Mine is 1/2″ square bar forged into a half clamp with a long leg that has a hole in it. Then I have a piece of hickory with a rope going through it. The rope is tied at the loose ends above the hickory dowel and a s-hook is attached. By putting my foot in the loop and pressing down with my (very minimal) weight It creates the tension on the clamp. I do also have a 1060 hardee hold down that works by spring tension
its called a hold-down or hold-down tool.. his seems long with a hook at the bottom to put you foot on but i have also seen then that are spring tensioned you pull up with a twisting motion and hit the back and it clamps on then tap it sideway to release
